Coordination of State Policies
Urge Convening of State Departments and Local Governments to Address More Effective Coordination of State Policies to Support Implementation of the Atlanta Regional Development Plant
WHEREAS, many initiatives related to growth in the metro Atlanta
region and the state as a whole, including the 2002 Joint Task Force Report on
Quality Growth by the Georgia Municipal Association and the Association County
Commissioners of Georgia, have prioritized coordinated state policy in support
of a growth strategy; and
WHEREAS, there remains significant progress to be made in this
area; and
WHEREAS, a better framework for collaboration could demonstrate the
effectiveness of inter-agency coordination, and substantially improve our
ability to more effectively accommodate regional growth.
NOW BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association
encourages the Governor to convene state department heads and local governments
as a collaborative task force supporting implementation of the Atlanta Regional
Development Plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, MAMA believes this task force could operate
with technical support from Atlanta Regional Commission and the Georgia
Regional Transportation Authority.
