Peachtree Corners and Dunwoody Engage Residents for Winters Chapel Corridor Study

Nearly 200 residents and business owners and operators from both the cities of Peachtree Corners and Dunwoody came to participate in an interactive workshop focused on ways to improve Winters Chapel Road, the heavily traveled corridor that winds its way through both cities. 

City Officials Invited to Join 10th Anniversary of Georgia Rides to the Capitol Event

GMA and the Metro Atlanta Mayors Associa­tion are sponsoring the 10th Annual Georgia Rides to the Capitol event on Tuesday, March 24 in an effort to secure support for regional bike and pedestrian networks linking metro Atlanta cities. Also sponsored by statewide bicycle advocacy group Georgia Bikes, the event brings attention to creating cycling connections focused around major transit facilities, activity centers and schools.

City Leaders Shine in State of the Region Program

Metro Atlanta cities played a prominent role in the Atlanta Regional Commission’s annual state of the region breakfast. City of Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was the keynote speaker, sharing stories of innovation and inventiveness from around the region and offering his vision of how metro Atlanta can remain the dominant region in the Southeast for attracting young entrepreneurs and creative talent. He suggested leaders in the region focus on working collaboratively “on the 20 percent of things we agree about.”
Palmetto Mayor J. Clark Boddie Elected Chair of Metro Atlanta Mayors Association

The members of the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association unanimously elected Palmetto Mayor J. Clark Boddie as chairman of the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association during a meeting at the Georgia Municipal Association’s annual Mayors’ Day Conference on January 25. Boddie most recently served as vice chair of MAMA, a cooperative alliance of the mayors of 70 cities in the 10-county metro Atlanta region. Boddie succeeds Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson as chair. 
Former Doraville GM Plant Sold

The city of Doraville is celebrating the sale of the former GM property to Integral Group. The sale became official in late September.
