ARC’s Livable Centers Initiative Awards New Grants to Several Cities

The cities of Atlanta and Marietta are among the communities receiving new Livable Centers Initiative planning grants from the Atlanta Regional Commission. Announced February 10, the LCI grant awards are intended to assist local governments and communities create new quality growth plans that can seed new ideas for livability or help implement such community-developed visions.
Fairburn Officials Celebrate Downtown Resurgence

On Saturday, February 11, two years after a fire ravaged Fairburn’s downtown, destroying three buildings and severely damaging two others, Fairburn Mayor Mario Avery, members of City Council, appointed officials, residents of Fairburn and others, gathered together for a ceremony celebrating the resurgence of Fairburn’s historic downtown.

Suwanee's 'SculpTour' wraps a first year of audience-gathering art

From May 2011 through March, 15 pieces of sculpture have been displayed elegantly throughout the city's Town Center Park and environs, enabling residents and visitors alike to appreciate the artwork on a personal level.
Blueprints Plan Promotes Sustainable Development In Lithonia

The Lithonia Town Center Blueprints is focusing on providing recommendations for the redevelopment and redesign of the Lithonia Plaza, an area that was once a continuation of the downtown street grid but was redeveloped into a strip retail center in the 1960s. The Blueprints process will aim to re-establish the Plaza as the heart of Lithonia's civic and business core.
